Wonderful story, Larry. Gleason was quite a guy, an enigma even to those who knew and loved him. I've heard when he did "The Sly Fox" he was difficult to deal with, and that was probably largely due to his health. I am in my 20s and was introduced to The Honeymooners when I lived in NY and watched it on Ch. 11. That led to me doing extensive research on Audrey Meadows, and she adored Gleason. She was honest about his shortcomings, his drinking, moods, and more, yet she always respected the man for his unique talent. His contribution to television is immense. He was the Great One.
